Like most countries Ireland has been affected by the global financial crisis of 2008-2010 and this has had an ongoing impact on the job market which remains somewhat depressed. Some of the hardest hit employment sectors are construction, wholesale and retail, industry and agriculture. So will I need specific audit qualifications?

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland is the largest and longest established accountancy body in Ireland. Students must pass a series of professional exams whilst under a training contract with a recognised practice (external audit) firm. If you are wishing to undertake a CIA qualification, then take a look at Ireland’s chapter of the IIA.


For IT auditors, the Irish Chapter of ISACA was formed in 1998 and now boasts over 300 members from a range of industries, practice, and the public sector. They also provide support for the CISA examinations.
